rePurpose Global Impact Framework in action

The BASE Framework is our leading impact creation process that is the strong foundation for each rePurpose Global plastic recovery impact project. This framework ensures that our interventions in each geography create additional, impactful and verifiable outcomes.

1. Baseline
Plastic pollution from city to ocean
  • Lack of clean drinking water results into need for packaged alternates. The result is more waste and lack of adequate collection systems.
  • Rivers flowing through the city, via the Douala-Edéa National Park and mangrove forests, are filled with plastic.
2. Additionality
Funding river clean ups and recycling
  • Collecting waste already leaked into rivers and waterways before it reaches the ocean
  • Creating recycled PET straps for local and export consumption
3. Solution
Solution for Sanguisé
  • Collection through clean ups and community buy back center.
  • Sorting and processing.
  • Creating STRAPS made of rPET for local usage and exports.
4. Evaluation
Thorough audit and assurance process
  • Each Project's plastic recovery is tracked and traced via reTrace technology.
  • Furthermore, in line with the comprehensive rePurpose Audit & Assurance Protocol (rAAP), each project is audited for environmental compliance and social safeguards through multiple levels of internal audits - from documentation checks to onsite visits.
  • In addition projects are also audited through third parties to provide an independent assurance.

Impact Beyond Plastic Recovery

Impact Beyond Plastic Recovery

Meet Honfret Ndjamen aka Sako - Waste Warrior

“Initially, people questioned why I was collecting plastic from rivers, wondering if I was crazy. Now, they understand the importance of my work”

Honfret Ndjamen, also known as Sako, is a 33-year-old with an immense passion for environmental conservation. In addition to his job as a motorcycle taxi driver in Douala, he manages to dedicate time to collecting plastic waste from drainage systems. . Sako dedicates his mornings every weekend to this activity, which he does with passion and love. When Sako started collecting plastics from rivers of Cameroon, it wasn’t very easy as there were eyes on him - “what is this guy doing? What does he do with bottles?” But since then, he has become a catalyst for environmental awareness among his peers, inspiring several young people to join him. "People now appreciate the value of our work and actively support our mission to clean up Cameroon's rivers."
